Just a quick note from mom:
Zac has been standing off the harbor here in Waikiki since about 6:00 this morning. He is waiting for the press crews to arrive. I'm sure it seems ridiculous to him that we need our 8 hours of sleep, a shower and coffee before we can get to work! He had a wild ride throught the Kaiwi Channel last night with a few waves breaking into the cockpit! He is in good spirits and is looking forward to the all-you-can-eat buffet at the hotel.
For any of you here in Waikiki, Zac will be pulling in at 9:00 this mornng if yu want to come down and shake his hand!
CHEERS!

Too bad you can't make it to Kauai in Poipu beach Zac. It is not only beautiful but also has Puka Dog! They make the best hot dogs in the entire world! Have a good stay and try to think of anything you might need along the next leg and get it BEFORE you leave! Glad you made it!!
Conrats Zac! Have a nice stop. And thanks Marianne for keeping us posted. We'll be looking forward to hearing about the stop over.
Welcome to Hawaii Zac!
Marianne, please let us know which TV news crews made it to cover Zac's story, or post the links here if possible.

One more thing, any more thoughts on the backup propane stove in case alcohol becomes hard to find? I couldn't begin to guess how far 3 gallons will go.
Also, I was wondering the other day what would happen if he arrived in the middle of the night. I figured he'd have to lie off-shore and wait. That's funny.

Just a quick note on a snack that might be easy to keep on the boat. It's Peanut Butter Candy and there's only three ingredients. 1 cup powdered milk, 1/2 cup honey and 1/2 cup peanut butter. Mix together and spread it out in an 8x8 pan and store in the fridge. It doesn't take a lot of space as once it's cooled you can keep it in a plastic bag.
Land ho...way to go! First of many stops along the way to setting your record.
Cheers!
Hi Zac,
Any idea how long your stay in Hawaii and your expected arrival in the Marshall Islands?
Best of luck,
Gary
Zac

Annon....It very well may have been the wishes of Zac and his parents to wait. The media will and should be Zac's friend during this.
Zac,
Congratz on making it! I'm sure your parents are glad to have this chance to see you and bring you stuff from home. I know I would be if in their place.
Thanks to your Mom for taking care of the blog and updating all of us.
Have fun, but don't eat enough to make yourself sick!

Way to go Zac! Looking forward to following your next leg.

wow man, that is so jazz that you're in Hawaii. you've had a great journey so far and I look forward to reading and following the rest of your journey. you are amazing.
peace,

First, congratulations on the buffet. I wish I was there to shake your hand.
Second, it behooves our young circumnavigator to make as much noise in the press as he can to help possibly garner more sponsors and donations as possible. It might seem venal, but sailboats need more than wind to get around the world. Since he has already waited this long for all you can eat eggs and bacon, I reckon three more hours weren't that hard.
zac
remember the press can make you or brake you. Have fun with them and get your story told.
Wish I could be with you and share the joy of this day.

Way to go, Zac! You write like a 16-year-old kid, and that's what I love about your blog! The stories you'll be telling your grandchildren!!!
Aloha Zac,
Welcome to hawaii! hope you can get some good rest!
Will
Awesome ! Hey thank you Mom Marianne! Well Zac I know you are not old enough to drink, but since you are going to the all you can eat buffett, I know they will have a nice beverage called the Mimosa. It is half orange juice and ice cold champagne. Maybe Mom and Dad will let you have one taste. You deserve it! It's really good with Bacon and eggs my brother. Welcome to paradise and back to being a rock star with the press. Keep up the good work. And keep up with your routines! God bless.
Chris, Alhambra
Peter didn't leave a post reiterating everything already said? I'm surprised!!

Yes, Peter where are you? I missed your input today. I hope all is well with you.

Enjoy your stay and we'll all be waiting to rejoin you on your journey after you are rested.

Glad to hear you made it safely to Hawaii, Zac. May the spirits of Hawaii guide and protect you through the rest of your journey.

Way to go..get some good rest now.do some aerobic exercise too, like a short run or something and you'll be ready for your next trip.
Happy stay!!
ohh, this is all soooo exciting! thanks for the links Scott & Carolyn!
Enjoy all Hawaii has to offer Zac! And investigate those propane stoves as a back up - propane is widely used throughout the world. It may be wise to add one. Don't forget dried fruit pineapple from the Dole plant!
Hi Zac
CONGRATULATIONS!!! (to you and the team)
MDR to Hawaii solo is a huge achievement for a sixteen-year-old but then you're going on and on and on.
OK, maybe I was wrong about the media scrum. Your great achievement merits the world's attention and I wouldn't have found your blog if it weren't for the BBC. Your sponsors deserve a bit of publicity too.
Perhaps the tourist boards of the places you visit could help with air fares for your folks when they come out to support you. You must be generating loads of cash for Hawaii right now!
Relax and refresh but not for too long because I'll miss the adventure of following your epic voyage!
All the very best for the next leg.
Tim
I think that flower wreath is spelled "l-e-i". Amazing how a few letters can drastically change the meaning of a sentence, haha.
Congratulations! Can't wait to follow the rest of the voyage.
Congratulations Zac!!

hey Zac-er-man...
what a great way to finish off your first leg... wikiki beach , hawaii... you'll have lotsa memories of the "craziness" of hawaii... as you head to the marshall islands...
remember life's not a destination... it's the journey...
will be following your progress... you'll do just fine...
enjoy the psalms and proverbs... it's the measure of a man on an open ocean...in the sea of life as well as the sea of nature...
thanks marianne for the updates
keeping you in prayer Zac...

Hi gang,
I think that marketing/reporting is a necessary evil in Zac's undertaking. Let's let him and his family do what they need to do to get the coverage they need to get so as to let Zac acquire the financial needs he *needs* to allow him to achieve his goal safely, which we all support, believe in, dream in...

Zac, words cannot express the respect and admiration I have for you. You've raised the bar for American teens. I only wish I was 30 years younger. :)
Congratulations & Well Done Zac!

Zac we have not a word from you since last Friday and it is now Tuesday. We have been waiting for an update from you since last week and there has been not a peep out of you. We are glad that you arrived in Hawaii safely but the least you could have done is update the ones who have been praying for you and supporting you. Charley and Josh
I have been following Zac's adventures and have been eagerly awaiting an update. As a mother of a sixteen year old son I anxiously await Zac's blogs to know he is safe, just like I would my own.
I am sure it was hard for your parents to leave you again in Hawaii. I do not know if I would have the heart to let you continue.
Best of luck Zac, and be safe. I will be checking on your progress each day.
Aloha,
Another Mom
