Looking Forward

Working hard to think of something new to talk about here. Wind is good in the 15-20 knot range although I did have some lighter winds as well today. I had a surprise visit from a squall today. I haven't been in a squall in a while. The swells have gotten bigger today and I have had a lot of them crashing over the bow as far up as the dodger. I pulled in some sail for awhile so I didn't push Intrepid too hard. She has been through a lot and I want her to get me home - even if it is a little slower.
I'm not sure who asked when I would be in Panama but I figure that I'm less than a week to Grenada, less than a week in Grenada (God willing) and then a week or so to Panama. I am getting some experienced people advising me about who to talk to and who not to talk to as well as where to go and where not to go. I could be in Panama for a week or maybe even 2 weeks.
I've heard it is an amazing place so I am really looking forward to experiencing the canal.
@John & Chris from Moana: Hey! Are you gonna come out to Cali in June for the big event?
Cheers,
Zac

Date's wrong on the latest position :-) Zac's into Friday already.
Hiya Z!!
Looks like you are zipping along quite nicely; good on ya!
Swells crashing over the bow to the dodger sound kind of scary to me! Hopefully you didn't end up with a sopping mess!
What do you think you will do with "Intrepid" once you're home? I think if she were mine I'd keep her forever and use her to teach others to sail ~~~_/)
I'm hoping we will be able to view your passage through the Panama Canal via web cams. How neat would that be ?!
Still sanding away on my boat. Hopefully I will get to the point where I can paint this weekend. Sailing season is soon to start here...offically Memorial Day weekend. Some of my friends (hi Dick) have their boats in but aren't quite ready to sail yet. It's supposed to be in the 80's here, so maybe some of my sailing buddies will be inspired to get sailing!!
Be safe Zac, and yes again I'll say have fun!
Remember God's angels are about you, be still and listen as He always has the answer to every question <><

I have really enjoyed following you on your trip. Sometimes I have no clue what your talking about as I know nothing about sailing ,however, I just think what your doing is GREAT.Your a fine young man.Keep up the good work I will keep following . Richard Colvin Missouri U.S.A.
Good wind, a squall, and swells crashing at the bow. It all sounds a little more exciting than yesterday. As long as you're making good miles all must be well in Zac Land (ocean).
I hope you have a great weekend sailing but in your case you might not even know its the weekend. It sounds great to actually write that but you're living it.

Hey Zac-
Glad to hear you're cruisin' right along. Any Boobie Birds on this leg?

Zac Pac,
After reading the story in the LA Times that Marilyn provided the link to yesterday, it looks like it's time to "hit the donate" button again.
This adventure has provided so much to so many of us.
It would be great to give something back (if you can) and help "Team Sunderland" out.
Go Zac!

Zac should put Intrepid on ebay for sale. Unless Disney wants to make a movie, keep it for that, otherwise Laurence and Zac can refit it, put it up for sale 'battle hardened circumnavigation ready vessel for sale' $250,000 starting ;-)
I just hit the "Donate" button for the second time since Zac left CA. I'm encouraging others to do the same!!
Wishing you the Best from Northern California,
Steve
Zac, good man,
Your title is 'Looking Forward'. Aren't you always looking forward? I think yes. It is pointless to look backwards unless one is going that way! Damn the torpedos and full speed ahead!
There is some discussion of what to do with Intrepid when your voyage is complete. My, what a painful decision that will be. What does one do with a good horse that has taken you over the mountains and across the desert? If her marginal utility after it's over does not warrant keeping her as a sailing vessel -- or as a home (!), have her gilded or bronzed. What a lawn ornament she would make. After the successful book and movie, consider commissioning a special home built around a special fireplace that would accommodate her on the mantel.
Whatever ... be safe, be healthy, and stay happy. Nothing else really matters.

Hi Zac,
This is Mercedes Morris from Panama reaching out across the waves to offer assistance in connecting you with the Panama Canal authorities. I worked at the Canal for several years as PR director (now do PR for Dell).
Chuck Cohen sent me info about your adventure and it will be fun to help out any way I can while you are here, including setting up some media coverage that might help generate sponsor support!
Wishes for great sailing and weather,
Mercedes
Not enough to chat about....well just knowing you are safe and making good progress is sufficent.
Good for you Zac.
Daveh....you're back...yeh!
Was worried about you.

Looks like the Panama Canal will be an expensive event. Great that somebody with connections showed up.
@ daveH
Hope everything went as smooth as thought :-)

Hey Zac sounds pretty uninteresting in 8 foot swells and 20 knot winds. Are you kidding? Out here in So Cal the only place getting any surf is T-street, San Clemente and its only 2 feet there. If you don't want any of those swells I'll take them. Lol! Anyway I wanted to know how you are doing and recieving your school in the middle of the ocean? I'm homeschooled and that sounds a little rough (writing wise).

Hello Zac! My brothers (12 and 10) and I have been following your progress in the God's World News magazines. Way to go!! God's given you a talent and a dream and you're going right ahead! :D It's so cool to see how God has kept you safe and provided for you. :-) I pray he'll keep you safe through the rest of your journey!!
A sister in Christ (and a homeschooler :D)
Zac,
My! My!! what progress you are making! Just a few short weeks ago u were saying your goodbyes in St H.
As Daveh said you really need to get out those fishing lines.
You are moving in to a territory where flying fish can be found on the dinner table. (gotta watch those bones)
You cant leave the Caribbean without trying them.
Hey Zac Packers, I was just coming home on the freeway and saw a sign that said" This section of the freeway sponsored by......" let's all donate "Zac's Panama Canal Crossing sponsored by the Zac Packers"
Will work on the official "Welcome Basket" in Grenada
@Marianne.
Maybe Mercedes can get us an address for ZacPackers wanting to ship goodies to Panama
Love, continued safety and have fun.
