The Miraflores Locks

Hello All,
I spoke with the boys this morning and all was well. They were indeed delayed last night entering the Gatun Locks. They anchored in Lake Gatun for what was left of the night and were up early this morning making their way with their pilot, Fernando, towards the next locks. First should be the Pedro Miguel Lock - a single lock. Next will be the Miraflores Locks (a set of three) which have an excellent web cam at the following link:

http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

The estimated time of arrival at Pedro Miguel is 9:00amPDT/12:00EDT 1600Z.

Not much warning, I know. Zac didn't expect to be passing through so quickly this morning.

I don't think we will have the problems seeing Intrepid like we had last night - the web cams at Miraflores are very clear. We will be meeting on the blog comments (at the end of this blog post) if you care to join us. You don't need to have a Google account - you can post anonymously and then sign your name at the end of your post.

Take Care & Enjoy!

Marianne

I have lost my low res. How far "out" will we be able to watch? Not sure how much work is getting done in many corners of the world this morning!

Wow, what a morning. This is such great fun. I can't believe how emotional this is, when Intrepid came into view the tears just started falling.
The Miraflores web cam operater has no idea how many people appreciate his efforts to keep Zac in view as long as possible. Thank you so much!

Marianne, I can only imagine how proud you must be. Thank you so much for helping us enjoy this GREAT ADVENTURE!

Go Zac Go!

Trevor

I only just happened to log on to the webcam as he was centre-stage on the Hi-res cam.

You have missed it - but someone has offered to post the video captures later.

PS - Just emailed the guys at the webcam to thank them for keeping Intrepid in view on the low-res.

I just watched Zac go through the Miraflores Locks!!!! How exciting!!!!
I could read "Intrepid" on the side. We tried to watch last night, but couldn't see ...it was too dark. Have a good sail home!

Hugs to you & your family!

OK tantrum over now that I've stuffed myself full of Chinese take-away as consolation.

My excuse is sleep deprivation... up until 2.30am last night squinting at white dots on the Gatun cam then up at 6am for another 12 hour shift - I think maybe I can start to relate to what Zac went through approaching Grenada, at least to some small degree.

Anyway, undoubtedly disappointed that I missed it (and then not by much) BUT it really couldn't be helped by anyone & all will be mitigated by the recording somebody has undoubtedly made so I can try to relive it through that.

Finally:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY LAURENCE & MARIANNE!
