Mom Update

Hello All,

Zac and Laurence are doing well. Zac finally managed to get some sleep yesterday and is feeling more himself today. The boat will be measured today and then given an 'appointment' to transit the canal. They are hoping for a Tuesday transit. It appears not to be too busy these days. We had heard of month long waits in the past! More details to follow. As in Grenada, Zac has hit the ground running and has had little time to hang out yet.

The Panamanians have been extremely friendly and helpful and are planning all sorts of outings for him while he waits to go through the canal.

Zac is scheduled to do an interview on FoxNews Channel (FNC) today at 9:30 PDT/12:30EDT. If you get a chance - check it out!

More Later!

Marianne

Good news all round for sure.

Funny I was going to say Tuesday after looking at the openings. Can't really understand the bookings time table other than Tuesday shows lots of empty slots, so I thought to say nothing :-)

The global economny has impacted everything, including shipping, thus the canal slot availability is MUCH better than 18-24 months ago...

That is GREAT that Zac might get slotted Tuesday... He should have a bread knife ready incase he has to ditch a line, which is not uncommon...

Thanks for the update about the timing! I'm sure there will be a lot of us watching the Canal webcams. I had the good fortune to transit the Canal (in the same direction) a few years ago in a family boat. It is one of the highlights of all my boating years.

Having watched Zac's adventure for almost a year now, I am in awe of him, his family, and the support that he has received from people around the world.

I continue to offer my prayers for fair winds and safe home.

This is wonderful news that he may be passing through the first lock soon. For my students it is the final week of school. I was afraid they might miss his canal crossing on the live webcams. Our school day begins at 8:00 CST. What event this might be for my kids. We have been following Zac from day one and can't wait to see him on camera.

I will anxiously follow the blogs for more specific time info of his actual passing through the lock.

Now that Zac has sailed through the dangerous waters of the Caribbean, and is safely in Panama, can we get the coordinates for the part of his trip when they weren't publicized?

Zac, Please let me know when you are going by Gamboa or Balboa. My family and I were down there about four years ago and I went thru the Miraflores Locks. You will really be impressed by the amount of gallons that the pumps can produce. I have been following you since day one and you are a very skilled sailor. Make it work for you bud. Marc
