Return Day Info
We do have some good info on coverage of tomorrow's events for those of you who will not be able to make it out.
For those of you who will be able to make it...
Zac will be pulling in to Fisherman's Village in Marina del Rey at the end of Fiji Way at approximately 10:00am. There will be photo opps, speeches and some time to mingle with Zac and the family.
If you are watching from home, Fox News will have a live interview at 12:45pm and a live interview at 1:00pm with CNN. You may be able to see these online.
Also, KNX 1070 AM Radio will be broadcasting live from Fisherman's Village. You should be able to hear this online as well.
The live web cam on Zac's site is up and running. Audrey from Bandacorp sent over a response to the many questions that have arisen concerning the web cam:
There have been a number of questions and suggestions with regard to the video feed from the Zac Cam. Working in conjunction with Raven Computer Systems, we have replaced every scrap of hardware within our control, updated all the firmware/software and replaced all associated cables, but we still have intermittent interruptions in the transmissions from the Zac Cam. Since the camera doesn’t actually shut off, but only loses contact with the network, tomorrow we will have someone stationed at the cameras location to reset if needed. Barring any other unexpected issues, there will be a video feed when Zac arrives. We will also record it and post it to the website after the event. Thanks to all for the suggestions and feedback.
There will also be video coverage of the return arranged by Velodea Media that will be edited and posted to the site within a few days.
All for now. Going to try to sleep!
Cheers,
Marianne

Thanks, Marianne!
I'm glad the kid is almost home. It's been an interesting year for all of us.
Hope you can sleep, too!

Oh bless your heart....I bet you are all beside yourselves with excitement.
I am soooo excited for you and can barely believe it.
It has been the most amazing AWESOME year....Thank you all so very much for your wonderful openess and acceptance and allowing us to share Zac's journey with you all.
I am so very thankful that he is almost home.
God bless you all.

It is 10:53 am Johannesburg time, 1:53am MDR time. The web cam seems to be working well here, have had intermittent "freezes" though. Hope it does not become overloaded as the Zac Pac-ers sign on.
Looks like I am all set for the historic arrival :-))

Zac, you truly are the greatest sailor of your age.
THANK YOU!!!!
I have goose bumps just thinking about Zac's arrival home!!! I have to view in between patients and am thinking I may become too emotional; so it might be best to watch the video LOL!!!
Thanks for the ride!!!

Well Zac and family, what am I to do now at 5 am while drinking my first cup of coffee? I boot my computer and the first site I go to is Zac's to see his progress. With him safely home I have to redo my morning routine lol lol.
I'm so proud of you Zac and your accomplishments. I will be thinking about you for years to come and know you will go far.
We can't wait to watch your homecoming Zac on the webcam and I am so looking forward to you seeing your Mum and family again........
Well done, fantastic effort and what an example to us all with your resilient spirit and amazing supportive family.....

For those of you still having problems with the Zac Cam, try downloading Google Chrome and the latest Sun Java.
It works no problem with the Zac Cam.
Good luck and Welcome Home Zac!

Zac, Marianne, Lawrence, ZacPackers...
This has been a great experience and I thank Zac and his family for allowing us to share in Zac's great quest. I wish I could be there in MDR for The Return, but schedule just didn't work out. I'll be there in spirit, though.
Cheers to you all....

What a great bloke he is. Well done to both of you!
Wow, I can't believe this part of his journey is almost over! I can't wait to hear about the next leg of his adventure. God is good all the time and I am grateful that we have all gotten to be a part of this amazing young man and his family's life. Bless you and we will be watching from my office in good old Nashville, TN. Can't wait!!!!

@marianne - I sent the certificates to the #212 address. They arrived at 10a.m.on the 15th.
Could you please see that Zac gets them. I had requested Mon. and Tue. off to see Zac return, but when the dates were changed I was unable to make it. I wish I could be there. I have been following you all since May 2008.
Will there be any other events, preferably on a Sat. or Sun. in the near future, so that those of us who couldn't see him today might beable to still get a chance to meet Zac and family?
Thanks for everything,

Webcam doesn't work at all. I guess I'll be watching Faux or CNN
How excited you must be! I know I am! Heading down that way early to beat the traffic!
Webcam doesn't work for me on Firefox or IE6
A fantastic achievement for Zac Sunderland; truly inspiring; Savor the moment and celebrate. In the long run, stay grounded, stay humble and don’t get caught up in celebrity. A Big congrats to Zac!
I can't seem to get the web cam to work today at 9:49 EDT. It worked the other day. I tried both Internet Explorer 8 and Google Chrome. I keeps saying it timed out. I would love to see the conclusion of this incredible journey. Richard
I will be there! Came all the way from Oregon just to see Zac! Have been a faithful blogger viewer ever since Zac left. This is an historic event! Way to go Zac, Mom and Dad! Jim Barber
Forget the previous message. It now works on both Google Chrome and IE 8 Richard
Way to go Zac! I've followed your journey for 13 months and enjoyed every minute, learned some things too. Congrats on completing your fantastic journey and look forward to hearing what you do next...
Congratulations, Zac! I am sure this experience will provide a foundation for a life truly filled with adventure.
Reading your blog and watching the videos and interviews has allowed those of us who are unable to get out there for whatever reason to live the excitement (at least to some degree) that you have been living for the last year. Life will never be the same again, although I'm sure Toby will forget you were ever gone after he is back in the swing of tormenting his older brother! At least he has a fine example to look up to.
Congrats again, and keep us all posted on the book's progress!
Tray
Oh, and no luck on the Webcam with Chrome and Java...I'll hope for Fox or CNN streaming.
Tray
Glad to have a new browser -- Google Chrome -- but no joy in ANY browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox or IE) with the webcam... Hoping something comes together a little later, maybe...
Geri and I will be heading down in a few minutes after showering. Trust me, you'll thank us for that.
It looks like KTLA channel 5 has a reporter at the docks too. The anchors at KTLA aren't as childish and irritating as the gossip girls on Fox Morning News.

Buy "Death and Coffee" here!
We did mention we saw Zac's photo on the cover of ESPN magazine at the airport in North Carolina, right ?? In the BIG bookstores with all the other magazines :)
He's in there with the greats ! We are so excited for you Zac !! the Grants in NH
The problem with the java webcam is that the class file is not being served !
Tell Audrey to put the class file and jar on the sailzac.com server so that it can be delivered !! It's unable to load because it's not there !
"ultracam.class"
"ultracam.jar"
As much as I know Zac is eager to see his family again and vice versa I have to say that I will be in withdrawals reading about his journey. Should I just delete this from my favorites now because the journey is over? I hate to see the adventure come to an end and I have to wonder how Zac will be in a few days when he realizes his wanderlust days have come to an end? Now its back to mom's rules, sleeping in a bedroom, no more smells of the ocean, no more exciting islands to visit, I personally wish he could sail on forver.
Standing on a deck above the arrival slip - hope I can stay here!
I'm getting a "ultracam.class"
error message on the web cam.
@UK friend...I feel your pain. No webcam (right at this moment, anyway). Bummer! Guess we'll have to wait to see it all unfold on the news. I bet Zac's Vol.2 DVD will have it on there too! :)
Have a great day!
Blessings,
Marie

Ultra Webcam Failure, not working at all on Microsoft IE, Firefox, Opera browsers. Class file not being served! It's been sketchy for a couple of days and looks like with the latest efforts to fix it, it has gone completely offline. Too bad, so many were counting on it to be able to join in celebration online. It will be like watching a recorded version of the shuttle launch, you know it got off ok but it's just not the same as watching it live.

Thank you, Marianne! We promise to be good! :)
Hugs to you!!!
Blessings always,

Congratulations to an extraordinary young man on a phenomenal acheivement. It is also a tribute to the parents who raised him and those friends and family who loved and supported him.
You can be sure that if the webcam were in Zac's control it would be functioning perfectly even in a gale ;)
Webcam isn't working for me .. East Coast, Washington, DC.
Hey all! SO EXCITING that 'our boy' is nearly home!
Again, what a blessing it has been to follow this family's exciting adventure! I have never been "virtual crew" on ANY S/V before! Look at me - ;) - with my sail-speak - see how much I have learned!?
THANK YOU, Captain Zac, for having me "aboard." Your documentation of this trip has made for great viewing/reading - never a dull moment! Well - maybe the Doldrums... but even then! How many people can say they have been through and came out the other side?? And I feel like I was there - except for my climate control options... ;)
I have learned a lot! And I know you have too... Keep consulting with your Father and your feet with have the light they need for the next step required of you. Don't let the media go to your head - EVERYTHING is a lesser thing compared to Him - so easy to start believing your own press! Remember your sibs and all those you are representing...not pressure - just be wise as a serpent (run in the other direction when necessary) and love like Jesus - and you'll continue on your blessed adventures! I am excited to see where He leads you! You will continue to leave His Marks on the world.
Don't be bummed by being reigned in by your parents again after all this freedom...relish it! Let your folks guide you a little while longer. Enjoy your family for a bit while you're still all kids. OK?
Thank you - again - Lawrence and Marianne! I expect to see your books on this adventure and parenting that turns out kids like Zac!
Will be watching all the news and cheering you from a server room in MN! If you find yourself here someday, you and your family always have a friend in me.
Laura Ann in MN

Webcam update: There is a connection problem with the camera. It seems that a door may have closed on the cable to the router and damaged it. They are trying to get a replacement now. There is no problem with anyones Java. It only has that error because the web page cannot connect with the camera. We are working very hard to sort out the problem.
Anyone there with an iphone??
Take pics email them to Mom or someone to upload so we can see what's cooking there.
no webcam here in No. California either! I had planned to watch live, but guess I won't be.....
Zac cam remains down. It worked yesterday.
Crusader Zac defeated the godless Muslim pirates with his big, righteous gun.
Look how it ended, there were NO PIRATES, they were fishermen chasing fish.
Continuing with this line makes Zac look foolish.
The camera is working again for me. What time is the expected arrival?
Cap'n Zac,
You have given us an incredible year. Welcome home.
You know that our prayers for you will continue, Zac, now it is up to you to let us know how those prayers are answered. Let us know of any specific requesrs or urgent requests. That system seems to be well tried and found effective, eh? !!!!!
I just can't imagine what you are going through today and the days following so will just pray as lead.
Love to the whole team Sunderland,

Have a beer little buddy and relax.
Nice one Zac. Have a few beers to celebrate now!
Zac and Family,
Your adventure has been a pleasure to watch over the past year. Our family was on vacation in San Diego last June when Zac took off and we've been logging on daily to keep up with his travels.
Congratulations! and thank you for the amazing adventure.
Best of luck in the future.

@Laura... aka "Our Reporter on the Dock" :) Thank you! Looks like we'll be experiencing this through your eyes this morning. (no pressure)

Who's the lucky California wine maker who donated a couple magnums of bubbly to spray after Zac crosses the finish line?
Quite an endorsement for their product if they thought of it. And if they haven't they better hustle on down there before Zac arrives.
Congratulations Zac. Welcome home. Thank you for giving us all, something in the news, that is positive, to follow. I know the conclusion of your trip is really a beginning of the other great things you will be completing in your life.....May God bless you. Julie Florida
I'm streaming KNX10.70 NewsRadio and KTLA Morning News and as of right now there is no coverage. Does anyone know of a newsfeed from dockside? Webcam is still off. Only word we are getting is from those posting to the blog from the dock. Way to go ZacPac, you come through again!! Should have had a feed from the Intrepid... it would have been up!
ZAC....CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE A CLASS ACT ALL THE WAY!!!
And your homecoming coincides with the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing... Wow, two fantastic journeys!
May God Bless your special day!!

WWWWWWWWWWwwaaaaaaa!
Zac Cam not loading!!!
Wecam working for anyone yet?
Still not downloading the ultracam.class
Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ultracam.class
I don't believe this is related to the cam being connected. It has to do with the applet. It needs the files in order to connect to the cam.
People that do have it working, have the class file from earlier cached. Others have closed their browsers and cleared the cache.
Where's that local pbs affiliate that did all those nice videos of Zac a while ago? Surely they can cover this live and broadcast it live on their site???
Now on KNX10.7
Radio now saying hundreds and hundreds have showed up to see him in, and a huge fleet of boats to escort him in.... WOW

I'm hjappy for you Zac!!
Very very very simple solution to this webcam problem !
Looks like the cam is mounted on the balcony of some restaurant? Is that the "fisherman's village".
Ver simple ! Have someone sit up there with the webcam, plug it directly into a laptop and webcast it. And don't use java software. Use flash.
Too much fiddling around at the last minute :-(
Webcam is working for me...
Congrats Zac!! You are a great testimony of Philippians 4:13! I am very happy for you!

You betcha I would!!
I'm streaming KNX10.70 radio, KTLA Morning News, and now MyFOXLa KTTV, all live, so hope they go live soon. KNX has a reporter on a boat headed out to meet Zac...
And still checking the webcam but not giving that much hope at this time..
ZacPac posts to the blog are helping too... Thanks Everyone!

I've so enjoyed being a loyal Zac-Pac'er - from even before you left MDR and will continue to follow along with everyone else on your next great life adventure - thanks for the great ride - sooooo far! (Literally!!!)
While out yesterday "supporting the local economy" (!) I saw this and knew I had to post it:

I have followed your journey since I heard about it on Mark & Brian, my family was at your fundraiser, we were the highest bidders on the piece of your broken boom, and we logged into your blog every day. Sooo disappointed about webcam . . . but cudos to KNX 1070 for being there Live! Unfortunately, they were rushed and ended with Zac just stepping onto the doc, then cut. Looking forward to FOX and CNN Live interviews, and other coverage.

Just caught the tail end of the arrival press conference and remarks on Channel 4 (LA NBC affiliate). Zac looked good and well rested and responded well when questioned by the press. Sorry I couldn't make the arrival.

Zac will need a bigger bedroom to display all of those awards on his wall! Congratulations Zac - a fantastic accomplishment. I loved what you had to say about how teens are put into a box and that they do have other opportunities - to go out and "do hard things"! Continue doing hard things, and inspiring others as well. You have a wonderful family who love and support you and that is the most important part of this voyage!
WooHoo!
Way to go,Zac!

Looking forward to seeing your whole trip on DVD and then following you in your future adventures.

Incredible loneness,

There is nothing mundane about you, young man.........go forth and do great things!

Welcome back, Zac!!!!!!!
Zac,
Did you realize your historic completion day coincides with the fortieth anniversary of Apollo 11 blast-off?! Destiny is indeed interesting :0)
Zac,
Was able to catch your speech live via Internet, which is appropriate, I suppose, because our entire voyage with you has been via Internet.
It worked out just as it should have. You enter the record books with accomplishments that no one else has made, and that no on can ever take away.
Your younger competitor, can also set his records and essentially take nothing away.
The timing worked out perfectly, as I see it. Your personal integrity in how you conducted yourself and persisted with your original goals will pay off forever.
It is interesting to me how those of us who have been with you every step along the way feel vested in a friendship with someone most of us have never met.
I just finished reading "Dove" and where Robin Lee Graham struggled with lonliness, you say the worst for you was that first leg to Hawaii.
Try not to isolate yourself now. Bask, with humility. You've earned it.
~ lee
Thank you to all those who posted live streaming sites. Missed the preliminaries, but got to see Laurence and Zac!
If there are any archive links to go back and see what happened before Laurence spoke, please post!
Or any additional sites that will be providing coverage in the next couple of hours . . .
We love all you ZacPackers and will miss our "family!"
While bouncing back and forth between Fox and ABC, I missed one of the most important moments: The Zac/Mom hug! Kind of crazy coverage, but am so thankful to see our guy on solid ground, at home! :)
Hopefully we'll be able to see a "rerun" of his arrival!
Blessings-
Marie
@Laura - Is it as wonderful being there as I imagine???
Like Marie, I also missed Zac stepping out of Intrepid, and the Zac/Mom hug moment. Anyone know of a video archive of these moments? Been searching, but haven't found yet.
Gayle
Congratulations and welcome back home, "SAFELY" Zac!!
You're an inspiration to all younger people under 18 years old, to strive for their dreams and make them a reality like you have.
I watched you come in today from your voyage around the world on a live feed from channel 11 KTTV, Los Angeles, CA this morning and you said it, when you said, quote, "Kids today are put in a box, that they think they must finish high school first before they can do anything great," "and one doesn't have too, just go for it!"
I'd say, finishing up your high school by being home-schooled is the way to go and very wise on your part. You knocked out three birds with one stone, is that the right saying, well that's what you did anyway, you get my jest.
Again congratulations and thank you Zac!
From Santa Barbara Co., CA area,
Priscilla Cory xxxooo
Thanks Sunderland Family - I've been a faithful but quiet ZacPacker since Day 1. I've joined in the vigils, prayers, joys and NOW triumphs. Thanks for 13 incredible and unforgettable months.
Zac, you are an incredible young man with a family only a select few get to enjoy. Enjoy all the great things that you have coming to you and I wish you and your family all of our Lord's wonderful blessings.
See you on your next adventure.

Click on "Watch Video" some good video of his return.
Welcome home. Zac. You have an accomplishment nobody will ever be able to deny or to take away from you. It is a wonderful achievement made all the more so by the fact that you are a great young man who loves his God and demonstrates his love of life on a daily basis. And on top of it all you have let all the rest of us live vicariously through you. Life is good! Blessings, now and always, Steve
Links to videos seem only to cover pre-arrival and then interviews. Any idea where we can see his actual arrival at the dock and "The Hug" (with his mom)?
Thanks!
Marie
@Gayle...I'm trying!
To Zack's Mom:
Will you guys be going to the "Do Hard Things" conference in the OC area on the next week? I know you were at the homeschooling conference just this last weekend. You guys should try and make it out.

A killer migraine kept me occupied this morning and I missed the live feeds of your arrival. But I just watched several videos (thanks folks for the linkages!!) and saw photos and read reports. It must feel overwhelming to be home at last.
As an author, I have some advice. Edit the heck out of your book. Don't let someone else write it for you, make sure the words are your own, but don't shake off advice from others, either. A poorly edited book will erode your journey and demean your accomplishment.
Congrats could not see you live from here but great trip great effort to do this trip you and your family.
Very happy you came safely home.

So have the blog and homepage been overrun since Zac's return? Bandacorp seems to have carried the ball to the one yard line, but then fumbled, LOL... First their webcam is out just when we needed it most, and now both the blog and homepage are not loading either. I'm typing this on a comment window I left open from before Zac landed. Hope they can get it together before long.
It was a great thrill to be at Fisherman's village/MDR to greet Zac! I was standing on a deck about 10 feet above the dock level, and took a few pictures. You can see them at

Hope you enjoy them!
I must say that I have been completely captivated by this incredible journey the last 13 months. I too, am one of the "silent" bloggers and now feel like I have to chime in with a BIG congratulations to Zac, as well his family and the whole "Zac Pack" that has so faithfully put the wind in Zacs sails and brought his epic adventure to a finale. Zac, I only wish that the world could sit back a moment and really take what you have accomplished to heart. As was said before, more people have been to SPACE than have completed a successful solo circumnavigation. Well done Zac, and by all means continue to "
DO HARD THINGS"....I know I will!!!
One Love,
Somer

Fantastic photos, thanks! Wow, looks like Zac was so swarmed by media he didn't get to hug Mom. Unreal.

Zac,
Been following you since you left. I am so proud of you. Will continue to follow you through the years.
Well, I got home from MDR about 2 hours ago, but my own teenager had the computer and I couldn't type until now. ;-P
Geri and I had a blast! Seeing Laurence and Marianne, along with several Zac Pac'ers, was great! Like reconnecting with old friend that you don't see often enough.
When we finally got to meet Zac and shake his hand, I was honored. I've never been an autograph hound, but I'm tickled to have gotten signatures from three of the four heroes of this trip. Zac, Laurence, and Marianne all signed a CD. Yeshua (Jesus) didn't autograph it, but He was there. ;-)
I sure felt a surge of pride to hear both Zac and Laurence profess their faith to all of the secular news media.
Another high of the day was getting up close and personal with Intrepid. It was amazing to see that many of the signatures on the boom still partially existed. Most weren't really legible, but it was still an impressive endorsement for the brand of marker that was used!
Oh, and Zac's cabin was only a bit untidy. Certainly a lot cleaner than mine would have been.
All in all, the old girl looked pretty tired, but like a boxer finishing a win, and looking forward to the next fight!
Geri and I got some video and pix (a lot of it is video of peoples' hats and elbows as they held up their cameras) and I'll try to get some or most online by the end of the week-end.

How exciting and amazing a life Zac has had, congratulations to your whole family. My son is also finishing up a great adventure in Iraq and leaves today after 15 months back to his home base in Germany. May you have many more adventures ahead.
How exciting the see Zac accomplish his goal. Congratulations to Zac,the Sunderland family, Team Sunderland and the Zac Pac for the an incredible feat!
I noticed that the blog site is cutting in and out because of the load... Google needs to allocate more bandwidth to this site.
Absolutely endearing it was to see Zac get off Intrepid and hug his Mom. That says it all to me.
Hear from you soon,
Kathy

What a day!! Wish I could have met some of the supporters who have blogged here, but that was not to be.
Welcome home, Zac. That was probably the most exciting spectacle I have ever witnessed in all my born days, your entry into the marina channel. Wow!!
We stayed through all the speeches, interviews, etc. and finally met you briefly for an autograph. Thank you for your patience and graciousness through all and to all.
Now, have another IN'n'OUT cheeseburger!!*HUGS*
Congrats and welcome home!
Hello all..
just got home from a great day in MDR..so bummed that the Zac cam gave you all trouble..i so tried to keep in touch while i was there but my phone did not want to open Zac's site..might have been too much traffic?? Looks like some good pictures were posted though.
I was directly in front of the slip Zac pulled into ..It was just amazing seeing all of other sail boats escort him in along with 3 helicopters and every news team you can think of.. poor Zac looked like he was in shock but handled every thing like a true pro..calm cool and collected..can't say the same for me..i think i was whoo hoo-en like a rock star groupie haha.
So after a few interviews he was took a few pictures whisked away for more interviews.. he came back for pictures and autographs for his fans aftwe a few min. I worked my way up to the tent he was under and got my ESPN magazine signed... i was happy as a clam.
Just watched him on channel 7 news..so cool that he is being recognized for this amazing journey!!
Also heard he will be on Mark & Brian in the morning so you so cal. listeners tune in!!
I'm already feeling melancholy:{

What an exciting day this has been not only for the Sunderlands, but for the Zac Packers. As I approached MDR several helicopters were circling above and many yachts and sail boats were circling in the ocean.
It was thrilling to shake Zac, Lawrence and Marianne's hands - and Jen's too! What a team it has been. This day is theirs too. Zac, you are an awesome sailor. Congratulations! : )
And nice to see Intrepid up close and personal after those many miles of sailing around our world. Our prayers have followed her each and every mile of the way. She brought her captain home safe and sound. Praise to God.
Enjoy this special moment in your lives. Thank you for allowing us to tag along on this adventure.
Blessings to you each one,
Sylvia in Cherry Valley, CA
I have been watching Zac since he left last June of last year. I was at work today at West Marine in San Antonio, TX. and I checked to see that he made it home. Unbelievable. I am almost 40 and I can't image doing this. He has definatley got moxy. I wish I had half of it. Congrats to the trip of a lifetime. He has sailed around the world before he is 18. What do you do next. Thanks for all the blogging. I have enjoyed watching it. I can't wait for the movie or DVD. Please keep us Updated. Thanks, King
Since day one I have occasionally checked your blog to see where in the world you were. Today seeing you made it home on the nightly news gave me goosebumps. Congrats!

Zac,
Welcome home.. I noticed you were flying your Marjuro Yacht Club Burgee as you entered the harbor. It was the first thing I noticed.. You gotta admit that there are only a few people who could/would notice.
Only a sailor could understand
Again Welcome home.. life just got a little bit louder huh?
Chris Myles
BTW let me know your totals.. days, hours,, nautical miles
The Track Zac map might be a little off.. impressive though, you sailed ALL of that!! Well Done!!
Congratulations Zac! Wonderful to hear that you are home safe and sound. You have been in our thoughts all the time over these past 13 months. Well done!
The day couldn't have been better. Anxious to see the DVDs. Until then, I've a few snapshots from the day - July 16, 2009: Zac's Back!
Oops! Sorry. Here's that link again:

What a day. It's amazing that I arrived at Fisherman's Village at 7:00 am and spent the next eight hours standing up without ever sitting down one time. Believe me I'm not complaining because I enjoyed every minute of those eight hours.
Zac, I wanted to thank you for signing my poster today. It was the well thought out one as you called it. After I left today I went to Aaron Brothers in MDR and custom ordered a frame for the poster you signed. That custom frame cost be $107.00 but it was worth every penny. I'll pick it up on Saturday. Just so everyone knows I also had Laurence & Marianne sign the poster also. Without these two loving parents this trip would have never been possible. Thank you Laurence for sharing your testimony and making sure the world knows you and your families beliefs.
Before Zac signed my poster I had to wait until he took a couple of bites from an In-N-Out Double Double Burger. Right after that he still could not sign because Arnold Schwarzenegger called him and he was on the cell phone with him for about three minutes. What an important guy Zac has become.
This was an incredible day and I'll remember it as long as I'm here on this earth. I hope you and your family all the best in the upcoming weeks. I know the schedule will be intense for now.
I took over an hour of video today. Like the LA Gathering I'll be sending the Sunderlands a DVD copy of today's events I captured.
Can't Say Sail Home Any More :-(

@ MindWalker, Awesome pics and videos thanks! Love the zoomed in one's inside Intrepid, can even see Zac's boomerang stowed away on that railing :-)
A little over three years ago my sister died in a plane crash just off the Santa Monica pier. Her heart stopped beating on the Coast Guard boat just before they reached the breakwater into the Marina Harbor.
This morning when it was announced you were completing this wonderful adventure, I felt compelled to grab my dog and go to the edge of the breakwater and join in the revel of your accomplishment. I shared with so many others a great pride in you.
I was lucky enough to say hello and you signed a tee-shirt for me. Even my dog was exited, she jumped up on the table to get a good look at you.
Today something wonderful was accomplished for you and a good deal of healing happened for me.
I didn't expect that when I woke this morning, but I am so happy I followed that call.
Thank you for bringing me a bit of peace.
Congradulations to you and your family.
Audrey
Hey Zac and the Sunderland clan -
Chris Jones from ESPN: The Magazine here. Seems like a long time since I saw you in Grenada, but it must seem even longer for you... Just wanted to say that I've been following you home, and I'm so glad to see that you've made it. Congratulations to all of you, Zac especially. It was a pleasure getting to tell at least one small part of your story. Let me know when you're starting your next adventure. I'd like to be there from the beginning for the next one.
Way to go, kid.
I was able to see some of the live feeds during your news conference. Unfortuantely did not find those links until after the news conference had already started so I missed the great show coming in to port.
Congrats Zac. Job well done and well deserved honors. It is so awesome to see teens such as you and Mike Perham (and Jessica soon) take on challenges such as this.
BTW, just saw a news clip of your arrival on the 11 PM Fox News channel here in Atlanta.
I posted over 150 pictures to my facebook..i have no clue how to send a link to this site so if you all would like to see them.. go to my facebook..they are not set to private.

Hey Zac, Zacpacers and fam.
I went down to MDR and believe me when I say, there were sooooo many people, I couldn't believe it...(well, yes, I could believe it!LOL)...
I am only 4ft 11in, so you know I had a hard time seeing anything...but, I did get to see Intrepid and Zac escorted by many, many sail boats...so many it was hard to tell which was Intrepid. Finally one gent said it was the one with the double sails...
I tried stepping on my tippy toes to get a pic of Zac as he stood on the platform so I kinda squeezed in between the media camera guys....I got a few snaps but then couldn't really hear anything anyone said because I guess the breezes took the sounds???
I had a great time anyway, met a few Zacpacers and was just amazed to see History in the making.
Thank you Zac for your courage and selflessness in giving us your time. You probably could have been in two days ago but your appointment with us was important enough for you to keep...We appreciate it.
Funny how easy it is to love someone we've never met but simply admire. I love you and your family, in Him.

Can't sleep, still pumped over Capt Zac! making it to Home Port safe & sound.
Sure wish I'd remembered to ck the blog for updates or would've seen more than just the one local SoCal news channel was able to watch w/Lord Laurence, Lady Marianne & Capt Zac!
While listening to knx1070 (only way I was able to follow "live"), I readily admit, I burst into tears when I heard he'd past the headwaters of the marina. Didn't stop crying for the better part of the next hour as I listened to the reporter talking about the flotilla, Capt Zac! pulling down his sails, making a quick run around the harbor, then docking. I was grabbing tissue after tissue when I heard the reporter state he'd stepped on the dock to meet the ASA officially giving him the titles of First Under The Age Of 18 & Youngest To Circumnavigate The Globe! (Man, ran outta tissues again.)
I couldn't be prouder of our Hero!
By the bye -
Capt Zac!'s website url has changed. Please see:

Welcome home. I heard about you today and read most of your blog tonight. To call what you're done a brave adventure is to embellish the diminutive.
Good for you. God bless you. Enjoy your life. I look forward to seeing your documentary.
By the way, I spend 45 minutes driving to work on the freeway. That's as lonely as I get.

I have enjoyed "so Much" reading your blog entries and learning further with your adventures. What you have shared is beyond words. I am a stylist and have been sharing your voyage and blog with my guests. I wanted to share with you that one of my guests is a elementary teacher and is going home to read your website. She wants to share this with "her kids at school!" and of course her own at home!
You all have touched so many lives in the most wonderful ways...
I continue to share with great respect; your adventure, teamwork, incredible educational blogging and heartfelt faith...
Congradulations Zac!

My heart is broken for the Sunderland family after seeing many of the 'Anonymous' comments. Whether readers share their values and commitment or not, this is their adventure. I am sorry some entries attempted to spoil this whole process for them.
I am convinced, though, that the same optimism and faith demonstrated by all the Sunderlands will lift them above all this.
I have just seen in the news about your journey but what really caught my attention is your name. I too am a Sunderland and wonder if we are related somehow. Not a real common name and we were 3rd generation in America from England.
I do not know too much about my family tree but who knows. We may be kin. fell free to contact when you get a chance. I'd love to know.
