New York City
Spent most of today flying to New York, driving to hotel and looking for food! Have been exploring and seeing the sites here in the Times Square area. My mom and I will be interviewing with Mike Huckabee tomorrow afternoon. The show will air at 5:00 & 11:00pm Pacific Time on Saturday and again on Sunday at 5:00, 8:00 & 11:00pm.

So which one is more fun? The most crowded city on the continent, or the absolute solitude of the blue water? I'd imagine that the 'sweet spot' is somewhere between the two, but I've never had any urge to see NYC. Not since I was about your age, anyway, and that was a LONG time ago!
Still praying Numbers 6:24-26, albeit not so daily ;-)

No comments yet? Strange...I'm not going to leave one either!
That's so fantastic! Gov. Huckabee is an amazing man, and he made a great choice to have you on the show! :-) It's a highly rated show, you will have a huge audience. We got to be in the studio audience one time last fall.
We'll spread the word!
Just saw you on Huckabee! Was great to hear that you trusted God through your long journey. Our family of five just flew to New York to be on television after completing a tour of 52 Zoos in 52 Weeks. Praying for you as you face both positive and negative feedback from individuals and the press. Thanks for traveling to be on the show.....was awesome to hear from you!
Have a great time in NY. What a great opportunity. I was in the doctors office the other day and saw an article about Jimmy Buffet and he listed one of the things he wanted to do before he died and one was go to Antarctica. Wow I thought how exciting of an adventure for you and him to take that trip together. You could find famous people who want to go on big adventure and take the adventure with them. It would make a great TV show. Just a thought. Have a great time.
Zac,
Did ya see more of sharks in The Big Apple or The Blue Water?

Zac and Marrianne,
What a tremendous interview you had with Mike Huckabee!!!
You also made Christian America proud with your spiritual testimony.
Marianne, you are a great mother and your charisma is so evident!
Zac, I know it was probably like many of your numerous interviews conducted since the trip concluded, but you are a credit to your wonderful family.
Are you intending on playing any football this fall?

Wow--aren't you the big celebrity now?
Zac,
You looked and sounded good on Huckabee, he just sure didn't give you much time to talk!
Have a good time in NYC, hope you've got the time to tour around a bit, it's a great city with lots to do and see.
Great going Zac. I'm sure by now you have seen Time Square. And you thought California was full of people. Time Square will give a new meaning to a bunch of people crowded into one small area.
It's so interesting that you have gone from mostly being alone aboard Intrepid to walking around Time Square. It's all about both extremes!!!
Enjoy NYC,

Hi Zac,
My family and I were at your welcome home in Marina Del Rey and it was lovely to briefly meet you. You made quite an impression on my girls. I went home an rattled off this letter to Coors:
Dear Sirs,
Yesterday I was at the Celebration welcoming home Zac Sunderland, the 17 year old who sailed solo around the world. The location was Marina Del Ray, California. At the celebration a boat with sails advertising Coors sailed back and forth right behind the celebration and the press conference. Now, to your ears this is probably excellent advertising, but to the people at the party it was scandalous. First, this is an underage 'hero' to kids everywhere. Second, the family is in serious debt because of their son's adventure, unless your company's 'crashing of the party' included a big check to the family at the time, they certainly deserve one now. The sailboat in question went by at least 4 times, drawing the attention (and ire) of everyone on shore, from my experience that level of advertising would cost about $10,000, for each time the sailboat passed.
I am in no way related to the family, I was just a fan who joined the gathering on shore, but I've donated to the family from my meager earnings as a blogger and I urge you to make a sizable donation, in appreciation for this young hero and the good feelings of the crowd.
Of course, since I'm not in contact with the family I don't know whether a really large donation has already been made, if so, then I commend you for thinking ahead, if not I urge you to do it in a timely manner.
thank you,
Heather Cushman-Dowdee
I was wondering if they made a donation, or began to sponsor you in some way? Here's their response, they obviously are just trying to deflect me...
Congratulations again!!!!

Hey Zac,
I finally got to see you and your Mom on Huckabee! I hope you are enjoying New York!
Namaste~~
Zac, you were your wonderful, humble self on the show last night. It was great seeing you interact with Mike! And Marianne, you looked radiantly happy (as I imagine any mom would having her boy back home again!)
Blessings to the Sunderlands!
Zac: You need to start hangin' with some Democrats!
