Jennifer Diamond Foundation Regatta

Sorry of the lack of blog going on but it has been really busy over here. On Saturday, I raced in the Jennifer Diamond Cancer Foundation Regatta, a race to raise money for their organization. Their mission is to empower people with knowledge as they fight cancer or help someone they know who has cancer. The Jennifer Diamond Cancer research library is open to all; it contains state of the art Apple computers, monitors, a printer/copier, and a variety of books, as well as information on CD-ROM and video. The foundation also supports cancer research.

I raced on a Catalina 42 and we had really light wind for most of the race. We spent most of the race running under the kite trying to keep it filled. I got on the helm for two of the runs and the finishing limp over the mark so it was a good day overall. We went back to the Del Rey Yacht Club for some dinner and the awards ceremony. Harvey and Alice Diamond presented me with the 'Triumph' Award and a really cool trophy with a perfect likeness of Intrepid engraved on it topped with a crystal globe with my route etched on it. It was the most amazing award I have ever received.

Today I got picked up in a limo and brought to Duarte, a town on Route 66 for some PR for the annual Route 66 Parade. I'm going to be the Grand Marshal of their parade on September 19th. I did some photos and interviews for their press and now I'm packing for an early morning flight to Virginia Beach to do an interview with the 700 Club. Then I am on to NY again to work/meet with my literary agent, have a meeting with MTV and also with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

It should be another busy rest of the week. Well, I haven't packed yet and I have to be up at 4:45am tomorrow so I'd better get to it.

Peace,

Zac

We'll be keeping an eye on you, Zac. Hope you get some good pics at Virginia Beach - quite a picturesque place.

Hmmm. Many of us are thinking, 'Gee. We knew him when ...'

Way to go, Zac!!

Fantastic, that you are still buzzing up the planet and helping out, being a wonderful example and still staying in touch with us!!
God bless!

... and don't forget to give your Mum and Dad a BIG hug!

From Alta, CA >b.

p.s.- comments on Mike Perham's almost finished adventure just ahead of hurricane BILL???? The rest of us don't know what it means to be just ahead, or in, a hurricane at sea??

I haven't figured out how, or if it is possible, to blog and ask questions on Mike's site. He is not quite as accessible as you... I know you're busy... but??

Hi Zac

What a whirlwind celebrity existance you're leading! Your great achievement deserves the attention it's getting.

I'm sad to see the criticism of your hair length and style of dress. I guess you took advice before visiting Arnie but if not and if he was offended (which I very much doubt) then his entourage were to blame for not advising that there was an expeted dress code. For my money you should be yourself.

I think all the advice that you should go to college is well meaning but missguided. Would the media and your ongoing public commitments allow you to lead a normal student life? Would you be able to settle and concentrate on academic study?

Your next challenge? How about taking $100 and a bike and visit each of what the Alaskans refer to as The Lower 48. Pay your way with casual work, speaking engagements or whatever but generate the cash yourself, not through sponsorship. You could give some fantascic motivational talks to all sorts of schools, clubs and other groups of people and do a huge amount of good. If funds permit, and I guess they would, fly home to your wonderful family and keep them close. You're one lucky guy!

All the best, Tim

Well Zac, you're certainly not in the doldrums anymore! Glad to see you're busy all the same.

I trust that you will seek wise counsel (a trusted friend or family member) before putting your brand on anything. The land-sharks (agents, network execs, etc.)can be incredibly persuasive and pretend to have your best interests in mind, but please remember, you are the commodity, so to speak. So please, call your own shots and don't ever compromise your beliefs or reputation for a buck!

Zac,
You have quite a schedule. Take advantage of every opportunity!

When is your 700 Club interview to air on television? Great way to spread the Good News of the Gospel!

I think your wardrobe is fabulous....anyone furnishing it?

It's evident you aren't playing football this fall, but that's OK! Philip Rivers (NC State) just signed a 92 million dollar six year contract with the Chargers. Have you met him personally? He makes us proud at NC State.

Keep blogging!

Grace and Peace through our Lord Jesus Christ!

@Bruce Not sure it is appropriate to respond to your question about comments for MikePerham's blog here but, if not, my comment can be edited or killed. In his blog, click on the title of the blog such as "High Seas + ..." It will then open up and all the comments are there as well as a way to submit a comment in a manner similar to Zacs. Both young men are an inspiration to me.

Zac - keep up the great work. You are DEFINATELY an inspiration to a lot of people of all ages. It is great that you are able to get out in the media and spread the Word and your message. Can't wait to get the DVD.

It's great to see all the attention you're finally receiving. Please enjoy it to the fullest because it will not be around for very long. It's great you're able to help all the different charities and invest your time wisely for all those great causes.

Keep in touch a little more often so we know what's going on in Zac's World.

Enjoy,
