More News

Hello Again!
I was reminded that I forgot to mention a few things in my last blog.

Check out this link to a recent ESPN TV piece:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/otl/index

Check out Abby's new website:

http://abbysunderland.com/

DVD UPDATE:

We appreciate your patience and frustration regarding the DVD. We have been dealing with some unforeseen setbacks that have been very disappointing to us as well. We are doing everything we can to resolve things and hope to have a definitive statement to make by next week. We will honor all presales. Thank you again for your patience.

Finally, I just want to clarify that I am not an adventurer for fame or money as some may think. I am first and foremost an adventurer. If I can make a living doing what I love, I don't see a problem with that.

Thanks for reading the blog! More updates soon!

Cheers,
Zac

There's not a problem in the world with making a living following your dream. Lots of us adults are perhaps a bit jealous that we're not doing it. You're an inspiration - keep it up.

Zac, you remain a class act. Don't let the turkeys getcha down. And they are sure out there. You are covered in prayer. Keep that light burning bright. Follow your dream. Be the inspiration that you are. There certainly is nothing wrong with pursuing that dream. That, in fact, is what is inspiring about you. We are behind you 100% Even if you make course corrections along the way.

On my knees.

Oh, what a surprise to see the article in Coastal Living - He's everywhere.

Hi There Zac...

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and especially with Abby and her preparations for getting underway next month.
You know, I'm thinking the biggest risk is not the adventurer putting it all on the line (life and fortune) but the exposure to fellow humans who desire to take advantage of said adventurer for their own personal gain. Lesson my young friend, Always Read The Fine Print!
Well hey, did ya ever get that drivers license yet? If so, get the keys to Dad's car, or just grab him to drive, and you both head over to Yosemite on Oct 10th. Stop by the valley bridge and check in with the one and only Tom Evans. You can learn about him at http://www.elcapreport.com and just maybe by looking through his telephoto lens you may see my son Brandon on his way to the top of El Capitan. He flys out a week from today to begin the biggest adventure of his life. To climb the Nose on El Cap. He too would love a shot at Everest, you just never know...
Blessings Sunderland Family!!

Zac,
It was so refreshing to hear from you again! I'm glad that you are still optimistic.
I'm sorry about the problems with the DVD. Don't worry about things you can't have any control over and do the very best you can in what you can control!
You are a true adverturer and deserve every bit of monetary reward that you receive. Those are God's blessings to you. Just use those resources wisely and for his glory!
Looking forward to seeing more blogs.
By the way, I'm now blogging for www.raycomsports.com and then click on the NC State emblem and my blogs are there on the side along with some others.
Take care and God Bless.

Zac -

That's how adventurers pay for their adventuring, don't worry about it.

Of the two ideas you mentioned in your previous blog, I think I prefer the South America trek. It seems more in the Zac mold. Your target might be Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, the 'southernmost town in the world'. It was done in 2005 by wheelchair-bound Vanni Rebonato, then 54, in a fully equipped, hand-controlled 2005 VW Touareg V8, from Prudhoe Bay to the above-mentioned town. http://www.brandokraljevic.com/16000mph/
The trip was 16,000 miles and took him three months.

Of course, even with a dirt bike, getting from Panama to Columbia is a problem, no roads.

Whatever you do, I wish you well.

Hi Zac,

Those that have the opinion that you are doing it only for the money. They are the ones that have not done anything like you have. So keep it going. By the way you said that you spent some time in Texas, I miss that. If you ever get to Houston call me up, I will show you around the 4th largest city in this country. Sounds like your sister is doing something that I would not have thought possible. I know that she is well trained, just like you where.

Hope everything is well at your end.

Until next time.

I kind of liked the polar exploration one. There's a guy who did or is still doing a north south circumnavigation in a custom steel yacht. Pretty cool.

If you do the motobike trip and absolute must is to rent Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's "The Long Way Down". They drove dirtbikes from England to Cape Town and made a television series about it. They also did an earlier one called "The Long Way Round" riding from England to New York via Asia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Way_Down

Get a nice BMW bike like theirs if you can. Pretty much proven through desert and jungle on their ride.

If you go soon, you may even meet up with your old buddy Minoru Saito is still stuck down at Cape Horn, Punta Arenas, Chile the last town in South America trying to repair his boat since you guys left Cape Town which seems years ago ! :-)

Zac-
Thanks for the updates. The motorbike trip sounds like more fun than climping a big old cold mountain.
The last picture that you posted of Intrepid blasting through a wave was great. It looked like she had a smile on her face. When I sail alone I will often sit up on the bow of my boat and listen to her slicing through the water. To this day I marvel at how the wind is driving that 14 thousand pounds through the water ---with me riding on her back.

if you make a living doing what you love, it isn't work. Don't listen to the naysayers Zac, they don't have the guts to put it all on the line as you did. You have nothing to prove to anyone other than yourself.

as Gary said, you need to make it to Houston area.

peace,
bob
