Congrats on making to Panama. I am a fellow sailor who has crossed the Pacific a couple of times and have enjoyed following your story.
You may want to take a quick look at your lower starboard spreader angle. From one of the pictures it appears to be too high. No reason to worry, just something to look at. Of course it may just be an optical illusion in the pic.

I didn't realize Laurence was going to be in Panama with Zac! That must ease everyone's mind considerably. Will they let Laurence be one of the four handlers on the boat when Zac goes through the locks? I know various sailors sometimes help others out by being a line handler, while gaining experience for when they traverse the locks themselves.
Wouldn't that be terrific if Laurence could be there helping Zac through, instead of relying on Panamanian strangers or other sailors?

We'll be watching you transit the canal from Kroooz-Cams.com as well as Seacuisechat.com. Having been through the canal a few times myself I know how hot it can get.
Please clarify how you made your reservation and paid your fees for the transit. I was always told that these are done months in advance.

My ten year old son and I are enjoying following your trip through updates in God's World News each month. It is a great encouragement to young boys to see such bravery and skill in a young man. May the Lord bless and keep you for every gust of wind and every drop of water is in his command.

Sam is eagle-eyed in his suggestion that the first of the Panama photographs gives the appearance that the outboard end of your starboard lower spreader might be a bit higher than that of the port lower spreader.
Sam also suggests this might be an optical delusion. But just in case . . . you might take a look, as you'll want to take good care of that mast as you begin the uphill bash to MDR.
PassageWeather.com shows that there ought not be much bashing -- at least initially if the weather remains like this once you enter the Pacific. For the next week it is 10-15 knots all the way home.
That would be a nice relaxed way to while away the hours and to collect your thoughts -- and work on your writing -- if the wind stayed like that all the way home. ;-)

Hope the passage is easy w/no challenges (tho' we all know by now nothing is easy w/Capt Zac!), sure hope that engine holds up!

Enjoyed so much seeing you live on Fox News this morning. Had seen your Mom's post that you were going to be on just 5 minutes or so beforehand, so got the TV on just in time! Thanks, Marianne! You're looking good, CAPT ZAC! I'm amazed at how well you're doing. Love the pictures! After all the storms, pirates, etc that you've been through, traversing the Canal will be easy in comparison. God's with you, there's no doubt. Gives me goosebumps thinking about when you felt "someone" shake your shoulder to wake you that time to avoid a disaster. Happy traveling the rest of the way!
